Cookie Policy
1. Does this website use cookies?
Only if you agree to them. Nothing is set when you arrive. On your first visit a banner asks whether you are willing to allow Google Analytics. If you accept, Google sets its own cookies — described in sections 2 and 5. If you refuse, or simply never answer, nothing is requested from Google at all and no analytics cookie is ever created.
We use no advertising cookies, no social media cookies, and no third-party tracking beyond the analytics described above.
We do use a small amount of local storage in your browser to make the site work. Local storage is similar to a cookie but is never transmitted to our servers — it stays on your own device. Section 2 lists every item.
2. What is stored on your device
Four items, all strictly necessary either to run the website or to honour the answer you gave us:
cr-lang — remembers whether you chose English or Spanish, so you are not asked again on every page. Stored until you clear your browser data.
cr-loaded — records that you have already seen the opening animation, so it does not replay on every page. Cleared automatically when you close the browser.
cr-booking-v1 — saves your progress through the booking form (dates, locations, passenger numbers, chosen vehicle) so that refreshing the page or returning later does not lose your work.
cr-consent — records whether you accepted or refused analytics, so you are not asked again on every page. Kept until you clear your browser data, and kept whichever way you answered: a recorded refusal is what stops us asking you repeatedly.
If, and only if, you accept analytics, Google Analytics then sets cookies of its own in addition to the above — typically named _ga and _ga_<id> — which tell one browser from another so that visits can be counted rather than double-counted. They last up to two years. Refuse, and they are never created.
3. Your personal details are deliberately not stored
This is worth stating plainly. Your name, email address, telephone number, company reference and any notes you write for your chauffeur are never saved to your device. They exist only in the page while you are filling the form, and are sent to us when you submit the booking.
We made this choice specifically to protect people booking from a shared, public or hotel computer. Anything saved to a browser can be read by the next person who uses it, so we do not save anything personal.
4. Do you need to consent?
Under Spanish law (Ley 34/2002, LSSI-CE, article 22.2) and the EU ePrivacy Directive, consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.
Everything listed in section 2 is strictly necessary — remembering your language, not repeating an animation, not losing your half-finished booking, and recording the answer you gave to this very question. None of it is used to track you, build a profile or share anything with a third party, so none of it requires your consent.
Analytics is different, and we ask first. Google Analytics is not necessary to run this website; it exists to tell us which pages people actually find useful. So it is not loaded, and Google is not contacted at all, until you press Accept. Refusing is one click, exactly as easy as accepting, and changes nothing about the service — every page, every price and the entire booking process work identically either way.
You can change your mind at any time. Review or withdraw your choice — this clears the answer we have recorded and asks you again. Withdrawal takes effect immediately, and the analytics cookies already placed on your device are deleted at the same time — you do not have to clear anything by hand.
5. Third-party services
Google Maps — on the booking page only, when you enter a pickup and drop-off address, we use Google Maps to calculate your route, distance and journey time. Those addresses are sent to Google, and Google may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. If you do not use the booking page, Google Maps is never loaded.
PayPal — if you pay by card or with a PayPal balance, payment is completed on PayPal’s own secure page. PayPal sets its own cookies there, governed by PayPal’s privacy policy. Crown Rides never sees or stores your card details.
Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager — only after you accept. It records which pages are visited, roughly which part of the world the visit came from, and which site or search sent you. We use it to understand which parts of this website are worth keeping; it is not used to identify you personally, and we neither sell it nor share it. Refuse, or leave the banner unanswered, and it is never loaded.
Fonts — our typefaces are hosted on our own server, not on a font network, so no data about you is sent to a third party in order to display this page.
6. How to remove this data
You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings, usually under "Clear browsing data" or "Site data". Doing so will simply mean the site asks for your language again and forgets any unfinished booking.
Blocking local storage entirely will not break the website. The language chooser will appear on each visit, the consent banner will ask again each time, and booking progress will not be kept — but everything else works normally.
To withdraw analytics consent specifically, use the link in section 4 — it deletes the analytics cookies for you as well as stopping any further collection.
7. Changes and contact
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date below. For any question about this policy, or to exercise your data protection rights, contact us using the details in our Privacy Policy.
